Family alleges medical negligence in woman's death at Kerala hospital

The family of a middle-aged woman who died following a uterus removal operation has accused Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (MCH) of medical negligence. The woman, a 49-year-old resident of Vadakara in Kerala's Kozhikode district, succumbed to complications arising from the hysterectomy procedure performed at the government medical facility.

According to the complaint filed by her relatives, the hospital authorities failed to adequately monitor and manage post-operative complications that emerged following the surgery. The family alleged that lapses in clinical care and patient management contributed to the patient's death.

The incident has raised concerns about standards of care at the facility. Medical negligence complaints require investigation by appropriate health authorities to determine whether established clinical protocols were followed during the patient's treatment and whether the standard of care met acceptable medical practice standards.

Kozhikode MCH is one of the major tertiary care centers in North Kerala and handles a significant volume of surgical procedures. The hospital administration has not yet issued a formal response to the allegations. Authorities are expected to initiate a review of the case as per established procedures for handling such complaints.
