A family in Devaria district, Uttar Pradesh, has been struck by an unprecedented tragedy with three members dying within 48 hours, leaving relatives and villagers in shock and grief.
Major Satyavan Singh, a subedar in the Indian Army, died in Chandigarh. His body was being transported home to Devaria when disaster struck near Sultanpur. The ambulance carrying his mortal remains met with an accident, claiming the lives of two more family members—his elder brother Ramsamujh and his 18-year-old son Gaurav, who had been accompanying the body.
The succession of tragedies meant three funerals took place in quick succession within the village, with residents struggling to comprehend the scale of loss experienced by the family. The compound nature of the deaths—following an army officer's demise with a sudden accident claiming two additional lives—has left the community in mourning.
