Family-packed SUV gets stuck in Uttarakhand river, video goes viral

A Haryana-registered Bolero SUV with several occupants, including family members, became stranded in the Hinwal river near Mohan Chatti in Pauri district, Uttarakhand, according to video footage that has gone viral on social media platforms.

The vehicle reportedly entered the river waters while attempting to cross, with multiple passengers on board at the time of the incident. Following the submersion, the driver was seen scrambling onto the roof of the vehicle in an apparent bid to escape the rising water levels.

The circumstances that led to the SUV entering the river remain unclear. Local authorities are likely to investigate the incident to determine whether it resulted from negligence, misjudgment of water levels, or other factors.

The video's rapid spread online has prompted concerns about riverine safety and vehicle navigation in flood-prone areas of Uttarakhand during monsoon and post-monsoon seasons. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding rescue operations or the status of those aboard the vehicle.
