Farmer arrested at Ilocos Sur checkpoint with suspected methamphetamine
A 29-year-old farmer was taken into custody at a police checkpoint in Ilocos Sur after officers discovered suspected methamphetamine in his possession. The arrest occurred Wednesday during a routine operation along the national highway in Sinait town.

Police personnel from the Sinait Municipal Police Station apprehended the suspect during a checkpoint operation in Barangay Macabiag, Sinait town, in Ilocos Sur province. Officers flagged down the farmer's vehicle as part of routine inspection procedures along the national highway.
Upon search of the vehicle, police reportedly recovered suspected shabu, the street name for crystal methamphetamine commonly abused in the Philippines. The substance was seized as evidence and forwarded to appropriate authorities for laboratory examination.
The farmer, identified as a resident of the area, was brought to the Sinait Municipal Police Station for questioning and processing. Officials are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the drug and determining whether additional charges will be filed.
The arrest is part of ongoing law enforcement efforts in Ilocos Sur to combat illegal drug trafficking and distribution in the region.
