Farmer killed by downed power line in Andhra Pradesh field
A 60-year-old farmer in Anantapur district died after coming into contact with a live electrical wire that had snapped in his groundnut field. The incident occurred while the farmer was watering his crop in Peddapappuru mandal.

Adinarayana, 60, was electrocuted on Tuesday while irrigating his groundnut field at Turakapalle village in Peddapappuru mandal of Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh. The farmer came into contact with a live wire that had fallen in his field, resulting in his death.
According to local authorities, the farmer was engaged in routine watering activities when he inadvertently touched the downed electrical wire. The incident highlights the hazards faced by agricultural workers in rural areas where overhead power lines run through cultivated fields.
Police registered a case in connection with the death. An investigation has been initiated to determine the exact circumstances that led to the snapping of the power line and to establish responsibility for the maintenance of electrical infrastructure in the agricultural area.
The incident comes amid ongoing concerns about electrical safety in farming communities across South India, where inadequate insulation and poor maintenance of power lines pose recurring risks to farmers during irrigation and harvest seasons.
