The two were discovered by search and rescue teams on Sunday, three days after they failed to return from their expedition into the forest. They were located in a weakened condition, having spent the intervening period without access to food or shelter.

The pair had departed on Thursday with the intention of harvesting medicinal plant roots, a common practice in rural communities across the state. When they did not return as expected, family members alerted authorities, prompting the deployment of search operations in the area surrounding Jertih.

Search and rescue personnel combed the forest terrain systematically over multiple days before locating the missing pair. Both were provided with immediate medical assistance and sustenance following their discovery.

The incident highlights the risks posed by foraging expeditions in dense forest environments, where navigational challenges and lack of communication infrastructure can quickly turn routine trips into emergencies. Local authorities have not indicated whether additional safety measures will be recommended for future forest expeditions in the region.
