Authorities in Bijnor have arrested a father-daughter duo in connection with the theft of 1.5 lakh rupees from a shop in Chandpur, marking a breakthrough in a suspected organized retail crime ring spanning several districts across northern Uttar Pradesh.
According to police investigators, the pair operated using a carefully planned modus operandi. The father would position himself outside a targeted shop while his daughter gained entry to the premises, often by establishing rapport with the shopkeeper. Once inside, the girl would create an opportunity to access the shop's cash reserves, from which money would be stolen.
The arrests were made in Saharanpur following a review of CCTV footage from the Bijnor incident. The investigation has since expanded, with police linking the accused to multiple theft cases across Bijnor, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Saharanpur. Authorities are continuing their inquiry to determine the full extent of their criminal activities and establish connections to other reported incidents in the region.
The case highlights the growing trend of organized retail theft networks operating across Uttar Pradesh's commercial districts. Police said further interrogation of the suspects is underway to recover stolen goods and identify other potential members of the criminal group.
