A 45-year-old cloth trader was killed in a broad daylight shooting in Gurgaon on Wednesday when three unidentified motorcycle-borne gunmen opened fire on him and his son on Basai Road. Mehendra, the victim, was pronounced dead following the attack, while his son Sahil sustained injuries. According to initial accounts, Sahil claimed that he, rather than his father, was the intended target of the assault. Investigators are working to identify and apprehend the three attackers, who fled the scene after the incident. Police have registered a case and begun examining possible motives for the shooting. Among the leads being pursued is a theory that the attack may be connected to a murder case filed against Sahil in January 2025. Law enforcement officials suggested that the gunmen may have been attempting to settle a score related to criminal charges pending against the younger man. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities canvass the area for witnesses and forensic evidence.
