Manuel Tagle Sr., father of Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, died Sunday at 7:09 a.m., according to the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines News. He was 96 years old.
The elder Tagle's death occurred in Manila while his son was in Rome serving as pro-prefect of the Vatican's Dicastery for Evangelization, one of the Church's key administrative bodies responsible for promoting Catholic faith worldwide.
