Father's Extraordinary Devotion: 19 Daughters Complete Kanwar Pilgrimage

Sanjeev Kumar, a Godda-based resident, has embarked on an extraordinary kanwar yatra carrying Ganges water to the Baijnath temple in Deoghar, accompanied by all 19 of his daughters. The pilgrimage, which spans 105 kilometres from Sultanganj to Deoghar, showcases an unusual expression of devotion during the auspicious month of Shravan.

Each of Kumar's daughters is participating in the journey while dressed in saffron attire and carrying their own kanwars—a traditional bamboo pole used to transport sacred Ganges water to temples. The sight of the large family group undertaking this rigorous pilgrimage together has attracted considerable attention among devotees and locals along the route.

The kanwar yatra is an annual pilgrimage undertaken by millions of devotees across northern India during Shravan, typically from July to August. The journey to Baijnath, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, is particularly significant for Hindu pilgrims seeking spiritual blessings. Kumar's decision to include all his daughters in the expedition reflects a distinctive approach to family participation in religious observance, drawing admiration from fellow travellers and well-wishers encountered during the pilgrimage.
