Federal Court to hear challenge by dismissed NS executive members

The dismissed Negeri Sembilan executive council members are pursuing a legal challenge that could reach Malaysia's apex court next month, marking a significant development in a dispute that has tested the state's governance structures.

The Federal Court hearing is scheduled for December 16, according to court documents. However, the ultimate outcome of their appeal remains contingent on the success of a separate motion to strike out the case at the Seremban High Court level.

The strike-out bid represents a critical juncture in the proceedings. If the Seremban High Court decides to dismiss the suit at this preliminary stage, it would effectively end the legal challenge without a full hearing on the merits of the case.

Should the High Court reject the strike-out application, the case would proceed to the Federal Court as scheduled. The Federal Court hearing would then provide the dismissed executive members with an opportunity to present their arguments before Malaysia's highest judicial authority.

The case has drawn attention to questions surrounding executive authority and the termination of elected state officials in Negeri Sembilan.
