Felda special committee to submit findings to PM by month-end

A special committee established to examine the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) is set to complete its review and present findings to the Prime Minister by the end of the month.

The committee is composed of high-level policy advisers and economic specialists brought together to assess the organisation's operations and future direction. Members include Ahmad Fuad Ali, Chief Executive of the FeldaVerticals Solutions Berhad (FVSB), prominent economist Nungsari Ahmad Radhi, and Nurhisham Hussein, a former official from the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).

The formation of the special committee reflects government concerns about Felda's performance and the need for comprehensive policy review. The panel's expertise spans financial management, economic development, and provident fund administration, positioning it to provide detailed analysis of the authority's challenges and potential reforms.

Felda, which oversees one of Malaysia's largest schemes for small-scale farmers and rural development, has faced scrutiny in recent years regarding its financial health and effectiveness in delivering benefits to settlers. The committee's recommendations are expected to inform government decisions on the organisation's restructuring and strategic priorities moving forward.
