Juan Carlos Ferrero has confirmed he will join Ben Shelton's coaching team ahead of the 2027 season, marking a new chapter for the Spanish tennis legend following his split with Alcaraz late last year.
Ferrero, a former world number one who claimed the French Open title in 2003, ended his coaching partnership with Alcaraz after more than two years working together. The decision came after Alcaraz's campaign in late 2024, during which the young Spanish star reached a career-high ranking and won multiple ATP titles.
Shelton, the American tennis prospect, will benefit from Ferrero's extensive experience both as a player and coach. The appointment underscores Ferrero's continued influence in professional tennis following his transition from the playing circuit to coaching roles in recent years.
The coaching change represents another significant shift in the professional tennis landscape as top players continue to adjust their support teams in preparation for the upcoming season.
