Ferry services suspended as Super Typhoon Rosal threatens northern Philippines

MANILA — The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) announced the cancellation of numerous ferry trips on Wednesday afternoon as Super Typhoon Rosal moved toward Northern Luzon, posing significant risks to maritime operations across the region.

According to the PPA's 12 noon advisory, port authorities suspended ferry services to protect passenger safety during the typhoon's approach. The Bicol Port Management Office and Masbate Port Management Office were among the facilities that implemented service cancellations.

The move comes as Super Typhoon Rosal was forecast to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds across Northern Luzon and surrounding waters. Maritime authorities have advised travelers to postpone non-essential trips and monitor official updates for service resumption schedules.

The PPA continues to coordinate with local port management offices to assess conditions and provide updated guidance on ferry operations. Passengers are urged to contact their respective port offices for information regarding rescheduled departures.
