A Filipino national passed away on Tuesday following critical injuries received during a domestic gas explosion in Banani, one of Dhaka's upscale residential neighborhoods. The woman was among those caught in the blast when a gas leak ignited, destroying portions of a residential building.

The fire broke out when accumulated gas from a leaking pipeline reached an ignition source, triggering a violent explosion that damaged the structure and sent occupants fleeing. Emergency response teams arrived at the scene to find multiple casualties requiring urgent medical attention.

Besides the Filipino woman, the incident claimed at least one other life, with several individuals treated for burns and trauma-related injuries. Investigators subsequently launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the gas leak and whether safety standards had been maintained at the property.

The explosion has renewed concerns about gas safety protocols in residential buildings across Dhaka, where aging infrastructure and maintenance lapses have previously contributed to similar incidents. Authorities have indicated they will review safety compliance among households and commercial establishments in densely populated areas.
