A film producer identified as Amardeep Grewal was detained at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, according to reports on Tuesday. Grewal is understood to be a relative of the family of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's wife.
The circumstances surrounding the detention remain unclear, with no official statement immediately available regarding the reasons for the action or which agency was involved.
The development comes after repeated denials by the Punjab government regarding any connection between Chief Minister Mann and Grewal. A government spokesperson had previously stated that no relationship existed between the two, seeking to distance the chief minister from the film producer.
The case has drawn attention due to the existing familial link between Grewal and Mann's spouse, despite official statements attempting to separate the chief minister from the producer's affairs. Further details about the detention and its implications are awaited.
