MANILA — Victor Alfonso Limlingan, a seasoned finance and investment executive, has been named the new president and chief executive officer of the Social Security System, the state-run social insurance agency announced Friday.
The appointment by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. places Limlingan at the helm of one of the country's largest pension and insurance providers, which serves millions of workers and retirees nationwide.
Limlingan succeeds Robert Joseph Montes de Claro, who departed from the SSS role to take up a position in another government department. The leadership transition marks a significant shift in the management of the institution responsible for administering retirement, disability, and death benefits to the Philippine workforce.
The SSS board's decision to appoint Limlingan reflects confidence in his extensive background in finance and capital markets. His appointment comes as the social security agency continues navigating economic challenges and working to ensure the sustainability of its benefit programs for members.
