Fire destroys ground floor of Brickfields restaurant on Deepavali

A fire tore through a restaurant located along Jalan Tun Sambanthan in Brickfields early on Deepavali, leaving two female occupants requiring medical attention. Both women were evacuated and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident.

Emergency responders were alerted to the fire, which had engulfed the ground floor of the two-storey establishment by the time firefighting operations commenced. The blaze caused extensive damage to the dining area and kitchen facilities on the lower level of the building.

Investigations into the cause of the fire were underway. Authorities have not yet determined whether the incident was accidental or resulted from an electrical fault or other factors. The incident comes amid the Deepavali celebrations, one of the most significant festivals in Malaysia's Hindu community calendar.

The restaurant's upper floor sustained minor damage from smoke and heat. Adjoining business premises were evacuated as a precautionary measure while firefighters brought the situation under control.
