Five children crammed on single motorcycle in Meerut; ₹25,000 fine imposed

A video circulating online has sparked police action in Meerut after it captured four to five children precariously positioned on a single motorcycle. The footage shows the minors arranged in hazardous positions, including one child seated on another's shoulders, raising serious safety concerns.
Local police registered a formal case at the relevant police station after taking cognizance of the viral video. Authorities launched an investigation into the incident, confirming a violation of motor vehicle safety regulations.
As part of enforcement action, police have imposed a fine of ₹25,000 against the motorcycle owner. Additional proceedings are underway, including seizure of the vehicle and cancellation of the driver's license and vehicle registration certificate.
The incident highlights ongoing road safety violations in the region, particularly regarding overloading and unsafe transportation of minors on two-wheelers. Traffic authorities have urged residents to comply with vehicle capacity and safety norms to prevent accidents and injuries.
