Five Philippine dams record modest water level gains

MANILA — Five major dams across the Philippines registered marginal increases in water levels during the 24-hour period ending at 8 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Tuesday.

The dams recording gains were La Mesa, Ambuklao, Binga, Pantabangan, and one other facility, according to Pagasa's monitoring system. The weather bureau maintains surveillance on nine dams nationwide as part of its routine hydrological assessments.

Pagesa did not disclose the magnitude of the water level increases or current storage levels relative to normal capacity. The agency regularly tracks dam conditions to provide data for water resource management and flood preparedness planning.

The monitoring update forms part of Pagasa's comprehensive weather and hydrological services, which government agencies rely upon for informed decision-making regarding water supply allocation and potential flood risks across the archipelago.
