A tragic accident claimed five lives in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district on Monday when a piece of construction equipment made contact with a high-voltage electrical line during ongoing road work. The incident occurred in the Chhapoli area, where workers were engaged in road construction activities when the machinery inadvertently touched the live power line.
All five workers who came into contact with the electrical current died at the scene. Emergency response teams arrived following reports of the accident, but resuscitation efforts proved unsuccessful for the fatalities.
Three additional workers were seriously injured in the same incident and were subsequently transported to a medical facility for treatment. Authorities launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, examining factors including safety protocols and the proximity of power lines to the construction site.
The incident has raised renewed concerns about workplace safety standards on construction projects across the state. Officials have indicated that a full inquiry will be conducted to determine responsibility and identify measures to prevent similar accidents in future.
