Flash floods kill at least 17 in Nepal-Tibet border region

Rasuwa district, located north of Kathmandu and situated along Nepal's border with Tibet, was struck by the flash flood that authorities say has destroyed several settlements in its path. The disaster has left at least 17 people confirmed dead, though officials warned the death toll could rise as rescue teams access remote areas and continue recovery efforts.

Flash floods are a recurring hazard across the mountainous regions of South Asia, particularly during the monsoon season when heavy rainfall triggers rapid water surges down steep valleys and gorges.
