Kuala Lumpur, Nov 5 — Flash flooding affected multiple communities in the Puncak Alam area and surrounding localities in Selangor on Tuesday afternoon, as torrential rain overwhelmed drainage systems across the region.
Residents in the affected zones reported water levels rising rapidly through residential streets and low-lying areas. Local authorities and emergency services responded to distress calls throughout the afternoon, assisting stranded residents and conducting water rescue operations where necessary.
The flooding, triggered by the intensity and duration of the rainfall, inundated homes and commercial properties in several neighbourhoods. Authorities advised residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and move to higher ground when necessary.
State disaster management officials have not yet released formal damage assessments or casualty figures. The Meteorological Department's forecast indicated that rain was expected to persist in the region through the evening, raising concerns about potential secondary flooding in low-lying areas.
Road closures remained in effect in several locations where water levels posed risks to motorists. Residents were urged to avoid attempting to cross flooded sections and to await all-clear notifications from local authorities before returning to affected areas.
