Flick prioritises Madrid clash over PSG, benches key Barcelona star

Barcelona's loss to PSG in the Champions League took on added context when Flick disclosed that his lineup choices were shaped by the significance of the approaching LaLiga encounter with Real Madrid. The German coach acknowledged that resting key players, including midfielder Rodri, reflected the importance of the domestic fixture in the title race.
Flick's decision-making underscores the delicate balance managers must strike when competing across multiple competitions. With Barcelona holding a nine-point advantage over their arch-rivals in the league standings, securing three points in the Clásico would substantially strengthen their position at the summit.
The rotation strategy, while contributing to the Champions League setback, aligns with Flick's broader approach to managing player workload and maximising performance in decisive fixtures. Champions League defeats carry less immediate consequence than dropping points in the direct title battle with Madrid.
Barcelona's focus now turns to consolidating their league position through the critical El Clásico encounter, where maintaining their substantial advantage remains paramount to their seasonal ambitions.
