Flipkart peaks at 6.3 million concurrent users as Big Billion Days opens

E-commerce platform Flipkart recorded 6.3 million concurrent users as its Big Billion Days sale commenced, underscoring strong consumer participation across the country's digital marketplace. The scale of simultaneous engagement reflects the retail event's continued appeal among Indian shoppers.

Geographic data from the sale's opening hour revealed a significant shift in purchasing patterns, with nearly 50 per cent of visits originating from Tier 3 towns and beyond. This concentration of traffic from smaller urban centres underscores the deepening penetration of e-commerce into India's regional markets.

Non-metro customers accounted for approximately 60 per cent of overall demand during the sale period, highlighting a sustained trend of consumption growth outside major metropolitan areas. The figures suggest that Indian consumers beyond India's largest cities are increasingly turning to digital commerce platforms for their retail needs.

The performance metrics indicate a maturing e-commerce ecosystem with growing adoption across geographically dispersed regions, as consumers in secondary and tertiary towns gain greater access to online shopping infrastructure and digital payment options.
