Flood-affected families return home as relief centres wind down

Families displaced by recent flooding have begun returning to their homes as the situation improves across multiple states in the region. The gradual closure of relief centres reflects receding water levels and stabilising conditions in previously inundated areas.

In Perak, where some of the most severe impacts were recorded, two relief centres continue operating in the Matang locality. These facilities are currently sheltering around 200 flood victims who are unable to return home. Authorities have indicated that operations at these centres will be maintained for as long as necessary to support those still requiring assistance.

The return of evacuees to their residences marks a crucial phase in the disaster recovery process, allowing families to assess damage to their properties and begin rebuilding efforts. Relief officials have coordinated with residents to ensure orderly transitions from temporary shelters back to their communities.

Local authorities across the affected states continue to monitor weather conditions and maintain preparedness for any potential further deterioration. Emergency services remain on standby to respond to any developments that might necessitate additional relief operations.
