SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Severe flooding and sustained heavy rains have damaged 288 houses across Zambales province, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office reported Friday. The latest assessment indicated that 256 homes sustained partial damage, while 32 residences were completely destroyed.

The destruction underscores the vulnerability of communities in the province to weather-related disasters. San Antonio was among the areas most severely affected by the deluge, which prompted local authorities to mobilize response efforts.

Provincial disaster officials have been conducting ongoing damage assessments to determine the full scope of the impact. The figures released represent preliminary counts and may be updated as evaluation teams complete their inspections across affected barangays.

The flooding comes amid the region's rainy season, when heavy precipitation regularly poses risks to low-lying communities and flood-prone areas. Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable zones to remain alert and prepared for potential additional weather threats.
