Flooding displaces over 14,000 in Zambales as heavy rains persist

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Flooding triggered by unrelenting rainfall has displaced more than 14,000 people across Zambales province, provincial authorities said Sunday. The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported that 710 families, totaling 14,052 individuals, have been evacuated to safer locations as water levels continue to rise across multiple municipalities.

The evacuations represent a significant portion of the province's population facing the consequences of the prolonged wet weather. At least 552 families, comprising 10,242 individuals, have been relocated to emergency shelters as floodwaters inundate residential and agricultural areas.

Provincial officials have activated disaster response protocols to coordinate relief operations and provide assistance to affected residents. The ongoing evacuation efforts underscore the vulnerability of low-lying communities in the province to seasonal flooding, a recurring hazard during the monsoon season.

Authorities are monitoring weather conditions and water levels as rescue and humanitarian response operations continue across the affected municipalities. Residents in flood-prone areas have been advised to remain in evacuation centers until water conditions normalize and it is deemed safe to return home.
