Florida artist's decades-long creative vision opens to public for Halloween

Lewis VanDercar, a Florida-based artist known locally as the 'Warlock of Wesley Chapel,' spent much of his lifetime converting his Wesley Chapel property into an unusual creative space. The expansive grounds feature an eclectic collection of sculptures, unconventional structures and distinctive garden designs that reflect Vander Car's artistic vision and imagination.

For years, the property became a fixture in the local community during Halloween season, with Vander Car hosting celebrations that attracted neighbourhood children and families. These gatherings became legendary events, blending the artist's creative output with seasonal festivities.

Now, Vander Car's family is sharing the property's mystique with a broader audience. The family has announced the inaugural public Halloween Spookfest, scheduled for October 3, marking the first time the general public will be invited to experience the full scope of the artist's decades-long creative endeavour.

The event represents an effort to preserve and celebrate the artistic legacy established on the property while continuing its tradition as a gathering place for Halloween enthusiasts. The family's decision to open the grounds publicly signals a new chapter for the Wesley Chapel landmark.
