Flower vendors brace for price surge as Undas observance nears

MANILA — Flower vendors at Dangwa Market are preparing for an anticipated price hike as Undas draws closer, with increases expected to take effect by Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Currently, blooms are trading at P450 to P1,500 per bundle, depending on variety and origin. Local white roses command P450 per bundle, while imported Korean roses are priced at P650, according to market reports.

As Filipino families traditionally purchase flowers to adorn graves and remember deceased loved ones during All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, demand for fresh blooms typically surges in the days immediately preceding the observance. This seasonal spike traditionally triggers corresponding price adjustments across the market.

Vendors have signaled their intention to raise prices before the final rush, capitalizing on heightened consumer demand as the holiday weekend approaches. The timing of the anticipated increase suggests vendors expect the most intense demand phase to occur late in the week.
