Food regulator suspends licences of two West Bengal firms for safety violations

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the licences of two West Bengal-based companies for critical violations of food safety regulations. The enforcement action against Kailash Formulation and Sanecure Water Project was announced following inspections conducted in South 24 Parganas district.

Inspectors found that Kailash Formulation failed to maintain adequate hygiene and sanitation standards across its premises. The regulator identified deficiencies including poor overall cleanliness, insufficient hand-washing facilities, and a lack of designated changing areas for staff. Food handlers employed at the facility were found to lack proper medical examination records, inoculation documentation, and personal hygiene compliance documentation.

The suspension order was issued citing non-conformance with mandatory food safety regulations that govern food manufacturing and handling in India. Both companies are now prohibited from operations until they rectify identified violations and obtain approval from the regulator for licence reinstatement.

The action underscores the FSSAI's ongoing enforcement efforts to ensure compliance with national food safety standards and protect consumer health across the country.
