Food safety raids uncover fungus, rodents across north India outlets

Food safety and drug administration officials have conducted widespread inspections and enforcement operations against fast food chains, restaurants, and food establishments across the region spanning Lucknow to Noida. The inspections uncovered alarming sanitary conditions in numerous kitchens, including evidence of fungal growth, rodent presence, poor hygiene standards, and stockpiles of expired non-vegetarian items.

Noida emerged as a particular focus of the campaign, with 57 inspection teams examining 71 food establishments in the city. Authorities identified serious deficiencies in food safety compliance at a significant number of these outlets, prompting decisive regulatory action.

In response to the violations discovered, officials issued 42 improvement notices to non-compliant establishments in Noida alone, giving operators a specific timeframe to rectify identified shortcomings. The comprehensive inspection drive across 233 facilities from Lucknow to Noida underscores ongoing efforts by food safety authorities to enforce hygiene standards and protect public health in the region's food service industry.
