Foreign couple arrested after gold theft in central Vietnam

Police in Dak Lak Province, located in Vietnam's Central Highlands region, arrested the foreign nationals on suspicion of theft following the incident at a jewelry shop. The two individuals allegedly made off with three gold bracelets worth an estimated VND208 million ($7,700).
The quick apprehension came after shop personnel alerted authorities to the theft. Officers responded swiftly and secured the suspects within approximately 60 minutes of the alleged crime, preventing the pair from fleeing the area.
The arrests mark another incident involving foreign nationals accused of theft in Vietnam's retail sector. Dak Lak Province, a major economic hub in the Central Highlands, has experienced periodic security concerns involving both petty and organized crime.
The suspects remain in custody pending investigation. Authorities are working to recover the stolen gold and determine whether the individuals were involved in other similar incidents.
