The woman, identified by her initials G.S.W., fell into the pit at approximately 5:45am while hiking in the Hon Bo mountain area of Lam Vien–Da Lat ward. The hole, measuring roughly 70 centimetres in diameter, is believed to be part of an old mining operation in the region.
Rescue teams responded to the incident and successfully extracted the tourist from the abandoned pit. Details regarding the tourist's nationality and condition following the rescue were not immediately disclosed.
The incident highlights safety concerns around abandoned mining sites in the Da Lat region, a popular destination for domestic and international tourists. Local authorities may need to assess hazards in hiking areas to prevent similar accidents.
