Formal pact needed for PH-BN Melaka cooperation, says Aiman

Aiman Athirah Sabu, chief of PH's women's wing, has stressed the importance of putting any electoral or political cooperation between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional on a formal, documented footing in Melaka state.

The call underscores concerns within PH that informal understandings between the two major coalition blocs could lack clarity and enforcement, potentially undermining joint efforts or creating disputes down the line.

Formalising cooperation through a written agreement would establish clear terms, responsibilities and expectations for both parties, reducing the risk of misunderstandings or unilateral withdrawals that could destabilise any arrangement, Aiman indicated.

The remarks come as both PH and BN navigate their relationship at state level following recent political realignments in Malaysia, where both blocs have at various points sought cooperation to strengthen their positions in key states including Melaka.
