Alla Nani, a senior politician from Andhra Pradesh, died following a cardiac arrest, officials confirmed. He was 56.
Nani had held the Health portfolio in Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSRCP government, overseeing the state's health infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic. He represented the Eluru constituency in the state assembly and played a key role in managing the state's health response during the crisis.
His political fortunes shifted after the 2024 assembly elections, when he lost his seat. In August 2024, he parted ways with the YSRCP and stepped back from active politics. In a significant political realignment, Nani joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in February 2025, signalling a shift in his political allegiances.
Nani's death marks the loss of a prominent figure in Andhra Pradesh's political landscape. His contributions during the pandemic years had made him a recognizable face in the state's governance structure. The political community mourned his sudden demise.
