Former Attorney-General Idrus Returns to Judicial Appointments Commission

The Judicial Appointments Commission has announced the reappointment of three experienced legal professionals and the addition of a new commissioner in what marks a significant renewal of its leadership structure.

Idrus Harun, who previously served as Attorney-General, returns to the commission for another term. His reappointment is joined by Zainun Ali, a retired Federal Court judge with extensive judicial experience, and Hartini Saripan, a law lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

The commission has also expanded its bench with the appointment of Mariati Robert, former Sabah state attorney-general, marking her debut on the national judicial appointments body. Her appointment brings additional expertise from East Malaysia to the commission's deliberations.

The Judicial Appointments Commission plays a crucial role in advising the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on appointments to the superior courts, including the Federal Court, Court of Appeal, and High Courts. The reconstituted commission is expected to bring fresh perspectives while maintaining continuity through the reappointment of established legal figures.
