KUALA LUMPUR — Ong Kian Ming, who previously represented the Bangi parliamentary seat, has formally resigned from the Democratic Action Party following more than a decade with the coalition member. The move marks a significant departure for the former lawmaker, who had been an active figure within the party's ranks. In a statement on Thursday, Ong clarified that while he is stepping away from electoral politics, he remains committed to supporting certain political figures and causes aligned with his vision for the country. The former MP indicated that he will not be a candidate in Malaysia's next general election, signalling a withdrawal from frontline partisan politics. However, Ong has pledged to campaign on behalf of Khairy Jamaluddin, the former Health Minister, in upcoming political activities. His departure from DAP comes amid broader shifts in Malaysia's political landscape, as various figures reassess their party affiliations and electoral strategies ahead of the next national polls.
