Former Deputy IGP Says IS Monitored His Movements During Ops
A retired senior police officer who once headed counter-terrorism operations has revealed that Islamic State operatives tracked his activities, including his jogging routines, while authorities simultaneously conducted surveillance on the militant group.

The former deputy inspector-general of police disclosed that members of the Islamic State were aware of his movements while he led counter-terrorism efforts at Bukit Aman's specialized division.
The security official explained that the mutual surveillance occurred because both parties were actively monitoring each other as part of ongoing operations. "I knew they were watching because we were in the same group watching them," he stated, highlighting the reciprocal nature of intelligence gathering during that period.
The revelation underscores the intensity of counter-terrorism operations in Malaysia during the height of IS activity in the region. The former police leader's direct involvement in tracking the militant organization placed him in a position where personal security became a critical concern.
