MANILA—Former Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan is clinically stable and responding well to maintenance medication at the Philippine National Police General Hospital, according to medical officials.
Lt. Col. Benaly Bayani, chief of internal medicine at the PNP General Hospital, confirmed that Bonoan's condition is currently controlled, particularly his hypertension, which is being managed through supervised medication.
Bayani noted that the former cabinet official remains under close medical supervision as part of his ongoing treatment regimen at the facility.
The timing of Bonoan's discharge from the hospital will be determined by the Sandiganbayan, the anti-graft court handling his case, officials said. No specific timeline for his release has been announced.
The development comes as Bonoan remains at the center of legal proceedings related to his tenure as head of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
