MANILA — Former Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel 'Manny' Bonoan has been released from Philippine National Police custody, marking the end of his detention at the agency's facilities.

The PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group National Capital Region (CIDG NCR) released Bonoan on Friday following an order issued by the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division. He was subsequently turned over to his family.

The court order paved the way for Bonoan's release after his time in PNP custody. No further details regarding the case or conditions surrounding his detention were immediately available.

Bonoan's release comes as the anti-graft court continues to handle matters related to his tenure at the Department of Public Works and Highways. The former secretary had been held by law enforcement pending the judicial proceedings.
