Former MP's family of six rescued after becoming trapped in Delhi lift

The family of former MP Ghuram Ram became trapped in a lift at the Jharkhand Bhawan building in the capital on Monday, prompting a rescue operation by building authorities and emergency services.

The group, which included the former legislator's son and daughter-in-law among other relatives, remained stuck in the lift for nearly an hour. The confined conditions and extended duration of the entrapment led to six family members losing consciousness during the incident.

Emergency responders extracted the family members from the lift and immediately provided medical assistance. All six individuals who had lost consciousness were transported to Holy Angels Hospital in the Basant Vihar area of Delhi for further medical evaluation and treatment.

The circumstances that led to the lift malfunction have not been immediately clarified. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about elevator safety and maintenance standards in government and institutional buildings across Delhi.
