Law enforcement agencies apprehended the two suspects following a coordinated investigation by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Pangasinan Provincial Field Unit, the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) Luzon Field Unit, and the Villasis Municipal Police, according to a statement released Wednesday.

The Philippine National Police and CIDG did not immediately disclose additional details regarding the specific firearms involved, the circumstances of the alleged transactions, or the identities of the suspects pending the completion of initial investigations.

The arrests underscore the ongoing challenge posed by illegal weapons circulation in the country. Authorities have intensified operations targeting unauthorized firearm sales and trafficking networks, particularly in provincial areas where enforcement capacity remains limited.

The case has been forwarded to appropriate prosecution authorities for the filing of appropriate charges. Further details are expected to emerge as investigations progress.
