Former TH Chairman Remanded Seven Days in RCI Investigation

The former chairman of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) was remanded for seven days on Wednesday as authorities seek his cooperation in investigating findings from a Royal Commission of Inquiry. Law enforcement officials did not immediately disclose specific details regarding the nature of the inquiry or the allegations under review.

In a related development, the former Treasury Secretary was also remanded for the same seven-day period. Both individuals are assisting investigators as part of an ongoing probe that stems from the RCI's report and recommendations.

The remand period will allow authorities to conduct extensive questioning and gather necessary statements from both former officials. Court documents indicated the detention is for investigative purposes and does not presume any wrongdoing at this stage.

The Royal Commission of Inquiry had been tasked with examining governance and financial management matters within the public sector. Its findings have triggered several investigations across multiple government agencies and institutions, with several senior officials coming under official scrutiny in recent months.

Authorities have indicated that further updates regarding the investigation's progress will be provided following the completion of the remand period or upon the filing of formal charges, if warranted.
