Formula One to cut race distances for 2025 season onwards
The FIA has approved a reduction in Formula One race distances, trimming competitions from 305 kilometres to 290 kilometres starting next season. The change will see most races shortened by two to three laps.

The governing body of motorsport has moved to streamline Formula One competitions with a standardised reduction in race length across the calendar. The decision brings the maximum race distance down by approximately 15 kilometres, representing a notable shift in the sport's technical regulations.
Under the new format, the typical F1 Grand Prix will run for a shorter duration while maintaining the competitive integrity that fans expect. The adjustment affects the majority of circuits on the calendar, with most venues experiencing a reduction of between two and three laps compared to current standards.
