Fort Magistrate Reinstated After Suspension, All Charges Dropped

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has moved to reinstate Kosala Senadheera, who had been suspended while serving as the Colombo Fort Magistrate. The decision comes with immediate effect, according to official notices issued by the JSC.

Senadheera has been acquitted of all charges levelled against him during the suspension period. He has been reassigned to the Colombo Magistrate's Court and will receive his full back pay covering the duration of his suspension, which commenced in July.

The reinstatement marks the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings against the magistrate. The JSC's decision effectively restores Senadheera's standing within the judiciary and his position on the active bench.

The case had drawn attention within legal circles as magistrates play a crucial role in Sri Lanka's lower court system, handling a significant volume of criminal and civil matters. Senadheera's reinstatement enables the restoration of his full judicial functions at the Fort Magistrate's Court in Colombo.
