Authorities in Kerala have arrested four persons in connection with an investment fraud case involving a substantial sum of ₹37 lakh. The accused targeted a resident of Thiruvananthapuram, luring the victim with promises of exceptional returns on capital investment.
According to police records, the fraudsters operated under the guise of a frozen food export company, convincing the complainant that investing in their venture would yield returns of up to five times the principal amount. The scheme attracted the victim, who proceeded to transfer the funds to the accused.
The case came to light when the promised returns failed to materialise and the complainant could not establish contact with the accused. Upon investigation, authorities determined that the investment opportunity was entirely fabricated and initiated criminal proceedings against the four suspects.
Police have registered a cheating case and are continuing their investigation to recover the defrauded amount and determine whether other victims were targeted by the same group. Authorities have advised the public to exercise caution when approached with investment opportunities promising unusually high returns and to verify the legitimacy of companies before committing funds.
