The arrests were made following an investigation into suspected corrupt practices involving the sale of native land in the Keningau district. Authorities said the four individuals are being held for further questioning as part of the probe into the alleged bribery scheme.
According to police sources, the case centres on payments believed to have been made to facilitate the land transaction. The involvement of a former native affairs officer and a civil servant suggests the allegations relate to abuse of official positions or misuse of government authority in matters concerning indigenous land.
Keningau district, located in Sabah's interior, has seen previous cases involving disputes over native land rights and administrative oversight. The detention of the suspects is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the RM900,000 transaction and the nature of the alleged improper payments.
Investigations remain ongoing as authorities work to establish the full details of the case. Police have not yet disclosed further specifics regarding the charges to be preferred or the timeline of events leading to the arrests.
