Four arrested in murder of retired IPS officer's wife in Hyderabad

Police in Hyderabad have cracked a high-profile murder case with the arrest of four suspects linked to a criminal network operating from Nepal. The victim, Tanuja Ranjan, the wife of a retired Indian Police Service officer, was killed during a robbery at her residence. The investigation revealed that the gang's primary motive was to steal gold ornaments from the household.

Among those arrested is the couple's domestic help, who allegedly provided critical information to the criminal syndicate about valuables in the house and security arrangements. Police officials said the domestic employee's involvement proved instrumental in planning and executing the crime. The remaining three suspects have been identified as members of a well-organised gang with operations spanning India and Nepal.

Detectives recovered a portion of the stolen jewellery during the arrests and are pursuing leads to locate additional stolen items. Authorities are investigating whether the gang was responsible for similar crimes in other parts of the region. The case has highlighted vulnerabilities in residential security and the need for background verification of domestic staff, officials said.

The Hyderabad Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Interrogation of the arrested individuals is ongoing to determine if they were involved in other criminal activities and to identify any additional members of the gang still at large.
