MABALACAT CITY — Four men were arrested in connection with the transportation of approximately P48.9 million worth of suspected smuggled cigarettes in Barangay Cacutud here shortly after midnight on Monday.

The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) said the operation, which led to the arrests and seizure, was conducted following several days of surveillance activities. Law enforcement authorities identified the suspects transporting the contraband goods and moved in to intercept them during the early morning hours.

The arrested individuals and seized cigarette shipment have been turned over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and processing of cases. The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the police to combat smuggling and illegal trade activities in the region.
